The Story

They were the dark angels of post-punk and deeply captivated more than one generation: the Manchester band Joy Division, whose singer Ian Curtis became an icon of the dark side of pop.

Joy Division recorded two albums before singer Ian Curtis, plagued by epilepsy and personal Singer Ian Curtis, who was plagued by epilepsy and personal problems, tragically took his own life in 1980. But even in their short creative period, they left their unmistakable fingerprint on the music scene. Both studio albums were groundbreaking and shaped the sound and atmosphere of alternative music and countless successors.

Ian Curtis (guitar/vocals), Bernard Sumner (keyboard), Peter Hook (bass) and Stephen Morris (drums) released their debut album "Unknown Pleasures" in 1979. By the end of that year, they had completely won over critics and fans alike with their exceptionally atmospheric sound and songs such as "She's Lost Control" and "Day Of The Lords". The second album, "Closer", followed the following year and, with its dark sound and the deep melancholy in songs such as "Isolation" and "Heart And Soul", it won further praise.
